Superb Conditions

Describes the ice on the lower lake. ‘Crap’ would be an apt description of the stuff on the upper lake. Started on the upper lake because it looked like it had less snow. The surface was pretty much wrecked by previous snowmobile traffic; it looks like they rode through the slush which then re-froze, leaving it rutted and unskateable. Quickly gave up on that and crossed Lake Pointe at the narrows and then made my way to the south end of the lower lake where I found conditions to be really the best they’ve been all year.

Once again, had the lake to myself. Don’t people play outside anymore?

Brought the camera this time, so here is a bubble structure trapped in the ice, here is a closer look, and here is the obligatory shaky handheld video. (32.1 MB WMV) I really need to rig a chest harness for the camera to smooth things out.
